Onyeador Featured in SI’s “Faces in the Crowd”

By Paul Boyer | September 13, 2008

From an article I found at the Georgetown Univ. Uche Onyeadorathletics web site. We’ve been watching Uche for a couple of years now.

Washington, D.C. – Georgetown University freshman Uche Onyeador (Sterling, Va./Potomac Falls) received national attention this past week as he was featured in Sports Illustrated. The forward has a goal and an assist on the season for the No. 20/23 Hoyas who are currently 5-0 and have held opponents scoreless for 450-straight minutes.

Onyeador was one of four athletes profiled in Sports Illustrated “Faces in the Crowd” column which recognized his accomplishments in high school at Potomac Falls. He set Virginia all-division career records with 127 goals and 290 points (36 assists). As a junior, Onyeador was Virginia’s player of the year after scoring a school-record 42 goals.

The Hoyas open BIG EAST play on Saturday as they travel to RV/T25 Providence for a 2 p.m., game. Georgetown moved into the national polls earlier this week boasting an undefeated record. The Friars are 2-0-1 on the season defeating Sacred Heart and Boston College.

Kickoff is slated for 2 p.m., Gametracker and a webcast will both be available at the Providence athletic website.

Sure looks like he’s helping Georgetown. (Except for the fact they lost today against Providence 1-0, the game mentioned above.)
