Nice Start to the Season!
By Paul Boyer | August 30, 2008
Our Loudoun 98B Black took home two solid victories today at the OBGC tournament. You can visit the official results page but I’ll also mention it here.
The first game against POTOMAC COUGARS 98 was a draw at the half with each team scoring nil. We missed lots and lots of opportunities to score. Finally, in the 2nd half we got on target and got a goal each from Gio, Nate, Tim, and Nathan. We led 3-0 at one point before winning 4-2 in the end.
In the second game against MPS CELTIC GOLD we came out stronger scoring 5 goals from Gio, Nate, Tim, Nathan, and Rudra in the first half before they scored their first. We weakened considerably in the 2nd half, or rested on our lead, before Gio scored and they answered leaving the result 6-2 in favor of the good guys.
Tomorrow’s games start at 10:00 ON FIELD #1 against MSC MUTINY BLACK (MD) and then at 12:00 against FREESTATE SOCCER ALLIANCE FORCE (MD). MSC defeated MPS 9-1 and they defeated FREESTATE 10-0 so it looks like we will need to come out blazing tomorrow morning. FREESTATE lost their other game against POTOMAC 6-1. So let’s put our best team out there tomorrow morning and get off to a good start. It looks like if we have a loss and a win tomorrow we could still make it into the final on Monday. But let’s not even put that option on the table, let’s take a WIN AND A WIN!
LOUDOUN looked their best yet these two games. Passing, defending, scoring, covering, ball handling… everything seems to be coming together. If I had to suggest something to improve I might pick strength and accuracy in kicking. Strength in clearing the ball away and accuracy in goal scoring. And for accuracy, we could have easily had twice as many goals in each of our games with all of the opportunities that resulted in hitting the side netting or going directly to the keeper.
One thing is for sure, I’m going to be wearing cooler clothing tomorrow.
We missed you Cameron! Get better QUICKLY and FULLY!
